The doctor who fixed mt hand told Jaspher that surgery went fine. This hospital does not move slowly. Checkin at 5:30a, out of hospital by 10a (thanks to anesthesiologists and CRNAs that listen to their patients, I had no trouble coming out of anesthesia), in time to get grits for breakfast. Taking minimum of pain pills. wrist hurts, especially if bumped or twitched, which is not so good because while my sleep disorder twitchiness is well controlled, it's apparently not good enough to keep me from twitching in my sleep and waking up screaming. From what I can tell from the googles, my break is in a really really bad place. and the head of the pin is pretty shallow, so the incision and pin are pressing against the plaster. I am calling dr monday to try and get a more supportive and msybe more padded cast. In the meantime, I'm being very good about keeping it still and elevated. But jeebus, it hurts and I get some really weird sensations in my hand.

Update: Life had been going really smooth-like. Had good trip to CA to see family (went well, first trip home in 2.5 years) and friends (had not seen several of them in 4 years), and had other fun (yarn stores, gay country dancing, poker, delish dinner with two of my disney guys who I adore). Came home and our sick hedgie was still alive (and still is). Got on meds that are controlling my sleep disorder so I'm not turning into a UFC fighter in the middle of the night. Not hating work. Kitten is beyond cute(see here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkFxvAEO898).

And then...

A lady turns left in front of me. My wonderful little car: totalled. My left hand: broken, will require two surgeries (pin in, pin out) to fix it. Work stress: through the roof.

In the grand scheme of things, walking away from a nasty wreck with just a broken hand is a real blessing. But no car sucks, not enough money for a new car sucks, dealing with insurance company sucks. Would suck less if I was not doing the work of 1.5 people plus supporting my sales staff. We are way understaffed, with no relief in sight. I am grateful to have a job, tho. And the best TV station facebook page in the market and our station group, as stated by clients and station facebook fans.

Maybe the current situation is just the universe's way of evening things out.
